A Closer Look...

Boy...
have I been BUSY!!

This country lifestyle and living with my in-laws has really made me very accountable.
Not that anyone is accounting for anything.
I am keeping myself accountable......

Little ole' me, myself, and I have laid out all the do's and don't of what to do around here.
Plus....being close to my hubby makes me ultra accountable.

Yeah...he's become like the "principal" around here.
He makes sure I'm up, dressed, and ready for breakfast before 7 am.
Breakfast can be anything from toast, oatmeal, sticky buns and many days.....cold cereal.

The past few days I've been dragging out of bed to a brewing pot of coffee my mom-in-law (Mema) has made and children already stirring in the kitchen.

Yeah....even the kids are getting up early to start school.
 Kinda nice....

The older three do their schooling with dad after morning bible and I school Shiloh, Galen, and Kole.
Older kids finish up with dad around 9:30 AM and I'm still plugging along until about 11:00 or sometimes into noon.....

Then we are off to do chores.

My in-laws house is so easy to clean and straighten.
I can't place my finger on it but it might be because it's smaller than my old house
and
NO TILE FLOORS TO SWEEP.
Woo-hoo!!

Mostly Carpet to vacuum
and
I love to vacuum...so I save this for ME...
HA HA!!

If it's just me  picking up around here....the chores would take a total of an hour.
So with help...I'm done very quickly.

I've also been doing laundry on a daily basis....no letting it stack....

Then....
in my little camper all I have to do is make the bed and pick up just a bit...
takes just a few minutes in the morning.

Anyhow...
It also feels like I have more time, though.
You would think I'd be on the computer with all the extra time I do have.
Nope!

Most of the time the computer is being used by Donnie
and
I just can't seem to allow myself on Mema's computer which is sitting in her bedroom.
I've used it a few times to check my email for a few minutes and pull a recipe up but that's about it.
Most of my time I'm being watchful of the kids so they're not tearing up her house.

Just the other day...
I had turned my back and lo and behold there was Ephraim sitting on the couch with his bowl of soup that spilled all over his lap.

He's crying and I'm dragging him straight to the bathroom to strip him down and place him under cold water.
The soup was mild in temp but he still kept saying he was "burning".
He's OK!

Anyway....my life feels so simple.
Like I said....staying off the computer has given me more time where I find myself thinking....
"What do I do now?"
:)

As I am settling in to a routine of sorts,
I find myself pondering about life.

Asking....
What is the purpose of this journey?
What lessons are there to learn?

I believe there is lots of learning still to be done... I am ready to learn and grow in many different ways.

Anyway...
I will leave you with a tour of my little place.

What a lovely update! I'm so proud of you! I love hearing how well it's going! Is Donnie's business starting to grow then? Do the big kids do their school in your "cottage?" Praying the Lord continues to bless you and "grow" you and fill your heart with contentment and peace!

love you!

Loved reading this...and I love simplifying my life. I'm so much more at peace when I simplify things. Why do I ever try to complicate things???

So glad to see you're settled in!

What Makes us Better Mothers? How do we View others?

What makes us better mothers? Do you homeschool or send your kids to school? Do you cloth diaper, use disposables or both? Do you breastfeed, bottle feed or both? Do you home birth, hospital birth or done both? Do you natural birth, use epidurals, or done both? Do you cook with whole foods or open up a box of Kraft Mac and Cheese? Do you home church or are a member of mega church? Do you wear a head covering, long skirts or have short hair and wear trendy clothes? Do you do attachment parenting or let your babies cry to sleep? Do you have 2 children or 20? Do you use birth control or not? Do you live on your own land/farm or do you live in a small apartment? Do you work or stay home with the kids? Do you immunize or never dare to inject your child? I am going to be very transparent and open with you all. I don't know if it's just hormones but what I have swimming in my heart and mind lately needs to come out. So this is the case for my posting this side of me. I know we can ...

My heart is sad...

Last night a local family in our small town lost 5 of their children to a house fire.  This was just down the road from where we are currently living.  My heart totally aches for this family.  I don't know much about them other than what I have heard from the new reports.  I am assuming she was a single mother because there was no mention of a father in the home.  I think it said she was staying with her mother (the children's grandmother) and her younger sister (the children's aunt--a 21 yr. old) My husband was driving home from work late last night when he saw police cars speeding by.  All he could do was pray not knowing there was a family being lost to a fire that very moment.   We didn't find out what happened until this morning.  From what I read was that they think the space heater caused the fire.  The home was an older wood-framed house probably without central heating.  The mothe...

A Very Quick Update on the Move

Hey All... Here's a quick update on what's been going on since my last post.  Well....we are moved in for the most part.  I still need to go back to the old house and clean, clean, clean.   Lots of cleaning... I wish I had the pictures to show you how much of a mess we all made while living there for 4 years.   Those pictures will have to wait for another post. I was also thinkin'... Boy how much STUFF do 10 people need.   I don't see myself as a clutter-bug...pack rat... I am always ridding my house of stuff.... Actually, to much stuff makes me hyper-ventilate.  I've been having a bit of moving anxiety lately.   I get these waves of panic.  Thank God they don't last long.   Oh...and please don't worry about me... I am not depressed or having panic attacks.  :) but you can pray though I think it's a mixture of the normal moving blues mixed with hormones of an almost 40 year old.   Gosh... c...
