I have had questions all my Christian walk as to why bad things happen to Christians or why are some Christians struggling with money or why do some Christians lose loved ones to sickness or other tragedy (accidents and such)? I had and still am asking questions to the Lord. Since we have Holy Spirit, then we can trust He will answer. But how does he answer? The Word.
As I dig deep and read, the God I have come to know and read about is wonderful. He is all about good things: deliverance, abundant life, victory, and any great thing you can think about. The devil comes to kill, steal and destroy. God is not the destroyer. What does Jesus say in
John 10:10
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly.
So how can we say that it was God's plan for something terrible to come on us if He came to give us life and more abundantly? If lives have been destroyed, then it is the enemy that has done it, not our Father in Heaven. This answered alot of my questions as to why things happen. I know alot of you might say, " Well, you just don't know why He allows those things." You are right, I don't know why He allows those things, but it isn't to teach us a lesson or to be mean. The Lord has set judgement from the beginning of time and thank God that Jesus came and redeemed us. You see the Accuser comes daily to the Lord and try to find fault in us.
It says in Revelation 12:10
Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of the brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.
Thanks to Jesus Christ that we have Him as our Mediator as it says in :
1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
It is like having our Lawyer saying that we need to plead innocence and not say anything else but to plead innocence. He (The Lord) speaks for us and we are found innocent and free from guilt because of Him (the blood of Jesus). He paid the price! So what does God have against us now. Nothing!! We are blameless in His eyes. When we walk close to Him, we walk in His ways, but the more we stray from Him then the enemy has a foothold. What I mean is, when we are away from His presence and walking in our own ways, how can we know we are doing wrong. We must repent and He will forgive us.
So how does this keep us from sickness, poverty, tragedy, or anything horrible: We have been Redeemed!!
Galatians 3:13-14 says
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree", that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
If you read in Deuteronomy 28, you will read the curses: it includes sickness, poverty, and loss of life in destructive ways.
If Jesus Christ dying on the Cross redeemed us from the curse of the Law then why are there Christians dying of sicknesses, or why are they always sick? Why are Christians losing their loved ones to tragedy? Why are Christians walking in poverty? If the word says it that we have been redeemed then why is it still happening? Do we not believe the God of the Bible? Are we not believing His word? Was His Blood not enough? I am just asking questions to shake your foundation as to what you really believe. It has opened my eyes to truly see that God is truly for us and not against us. And he doesn't want us to walk defeated.
"Yeah, ok, but what about Job, he loved God and all those bad things happened to him?" you may ask.
Ahh, Job. It seems that when bad things happen in peoples lives, we tend to bring up poor Job, who happened to be a blessed man. First, Job walked in fear. It says in Job 3:25
The thing I greatly feared has come upon me, and what I dreaded has happened to me.
Fear is the opposite of faith. Satan asked the Lord if Job feared Him without cause. I take it as. Does he fear God because he doesn't want bad things to happen or does he fear God just because he is in awe of His goodness. Do you see how Satan comes to accuse? Yes, I believe, the Lord allowed destruction because Job really had fears other than the wonderful fear of the Lord that we should all have. This fear is to rest in Him and truly knowing who He is--Almight God. Job was afraid of his children sinning before God and probably other fears as well. Don't Fear!! Just have faith and trust in Him (His Word). Second, Job did not have the blood of Jesus. We have the Blood of Jesus!! We have our Mediator, and Job didn't.
You see how Good, the Good news really is. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!!!
As I continue to read and dig a little deeper. I am brought to Isaiah 53:3-6 which reads:
He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief (sickness--hebrew translation). And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him: He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs (took up our sickness or disease-- hebrew translation) and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions (rebellion--hebrew translation), He was bruised for our iniquities (guilt and shame--hebrew translation); the chastisement for our peace (completeness--hebrew translation) was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed (healing and health--hebrew translation). All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned , every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity (guilt) of us all.
Is this not a beautiful picture of Redemption and what Jesus the Messiah, did for us at Calvary. The good news is we don't have to be sick!! I am believing and declaring this over me and my family. We are going to live long days and healthy lives, walk close to Him so we can hear His instructions and walk in the path of abundant life. This is The Good News.
Plead the blood of Christ daily. Meditate on his word daily, night and day so the accuser won't have anything against us. The Lord is for us, who can be against us. No weapon formed against us shall prosper. Why?? Because of His precious Blood. ---This is the Heritage (inheritance) of the servants of the Lord. Isaiah 54:17 and our righteousness is from Him.
Remember is is not your "destiny" to be sick, poor, live a miserable life. It is not God's will for you to be in bondage. And being sick, poor and dying young is not persecution. Persecution, is what it is-- Being attacked by others for His name sake. Sickness and the such is not modern day persecution. People that have died for the sake of the Cross have chosen to die for Him. Persecutions will come for the sake of His name. We will be attacked for what we stand for and yes, some have died young for the cross---For his Name. There is a difference between being Killed for Him and dying from sickness or tragedy.
Rejoice in the Lord Always!! We have been Redeemed!! Hallelujah.
